Pottery: Create A Sagriffto Ceramic Pot

  • 141 Lincoln Ave. Winter Park, FL, 32789 USA (map)

As we continue into these slow winter months with our hand building ceramics workshops, we like to dig a bit deeper into exploring using different techniques and tools to enhance the design, texture, and patterns on our ceramic creations.

In this upcoming workshop, we will be exploring the technique of sagriffto which is a decorative technique that involves cutting away parts of a surface layer to reveal a different colored ground. Whether you are a beginner or have some prior experience, our workshops are designed to cater to all skill levels. With a focus on technique and creativity, our instructors will ensure that you not only learn the sagriffto technique but also gain the confidence to express your unique style through your creations.

Please keep in mind that this workshop is hands-on, quite literally. You should expect to get your hands dirty as you mold and shape your vessel. We recommend having trimmed nails and wearing clothing that you don't mind getting a little splattered with artistic flair.

Once you've completed the workshop, your masterpiece will be carefully sent off to the kiln for firing. Your finished pot will be available for pick-up approximately 3-4 weeks after the workshop.
